Dr. Kelsi Herfel grew up in Mauston, WI before attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It was there that a simple phone call helped shape the course of her career.

As a college sophomore interested in exploring dentistry, Dr. Herfel called First Choice Dental hoping to find a dentist to shadow. She was welcomed into the practice and spent many days learning alongside our East dental team. The experience confirmed that dentistry was the path she wanted to pursue and years later, brought her journey full circle when she returned to First Choice Dental as a dentist herself.

Dr. Herfel earned her dental degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry. She believes great dentistry is built on trust, compassion, and truly getting to know the person behind the smile. She takes a thoughtful, down-to-earth approach to care and wants every patient to feel heard, comfortable, and confident in the decisions they make about their oral health. For Dr. Herfel, providing excellent dentistry is just as much about the relationships she builds with her patients as it is about the care she provides.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Herfel enjoys a quieter pace of life with family. Together, they enjoy being outdoors hiking, camping, exploring, and taking in all of the peacefulness nature brings.
