Dr. Karolina Balcarcel

Dr. Karolina Balcarcel grew up in Prospect Heights, Illinois, and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Balcarcel comes from a wonderfully diverse family. Her mother's family immigrated from Poland, while her father's family is from Guatemala. She is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and also speaks Polish and Spanish. She and her boyfriend have a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix named Shrinky Dink and look forward to adopting a kitten after settling into Madison.

When she's not practicing dentistry, Dr. Balcarcel enjoys running, thrifting, antiquing, exploring new coffee shops and restaurants, catching a movie every Tuesday, and traveling. Growing up with two deaf parents inspired a lifelong connection to the Deaf community, and she spent many summers attending—and later serving as a counselor at—KODA Camp in Poynette, Wisconsin.
