Improve your #selfie game with a healthy #smile
September 1, 2016
For many Millennials, taking selfies is a daily occurrence. According to a survey performed last year by tooth whitening brand Luster Premium White, these young adults take on average nine selfies a week and spend seven minutes capturing the perfect moment. Popular selfie preparations include moving to a better location, fixing hair, and practicing smiles.
Despite devoting more than an hour every week to posting selfies, Millennials have a high percentage of untreated cavities and tooth decay. Don’t let dental problems put a damper on your smile. Here, our team at First Choice Dental offers five ways to keep your smile healthy and improve your selfie game:
Brush and floss at home. Brushing twice a day removes the film of bacteria from your teeth. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush, and toothpastes and mouth rinses with fluoride to strengthen teeth and help prevent decay. Clean between your teeth with floss once daily. This removes bacteria and food particles from between the teeth, where a toothbrush can't reach.
Drink water. Good nutrition is important for healthy teeth and gums. Water keeps gums hydrated and stimulates saliva, which is the body’s defense against the bacteria that causes cavities and gum disease. Water also helps flush out food trapped between teeth. Water is a healthy replacement for teeth-staining coffee, soda, energy drinks, and teas.
Consider teeth whitening. At First Choice Dental, we offer both in-office and take home whitening treatments. ZOOM in-office teeth whitening takes as little as two hours in our offices. Our take home teeth whitening product takes one to two weeks. Schedule a free cosmetic dentistry consultation to determine the best solution for you.
Fix chipped teeth. Porcelain veneers—made of glass-like ceramic—cover and repair cracked and chipped teeth. Lumineers conceal stained, chipped, discolored, or misaligned teeth, without any grinding or shaving. First Choice Dental has specialists in art of cosmetic dentistry, in addition to orthodontics, endodontics, sedation, implant services, and general dentistry.
Visit your dentist. Regular dental exams and professional cleanings are essential to addressing dental health problems early on. They also help prevent many problems from developing in the first place! We recommend dental visits every six months. First Choice Dental makes dental appointments easy for you with online scheduling and nine locations in the Madison-area.
Frequent dentist appointments do more than keep your smile attractive. A common misconception among Millennials is that if your teeth are pain-free, they’re healthy. During your visit, we’ll clean your teeth and assess your dental health as well as check for changes in and around your mouth. This offers us—and you—insight into your overall wellness. First Choice Dental is committed to comfort-conscious care to keep your teeth and mouth healthy.
